Mr. Musaid P. P. is a Project Scientist II at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, where he has been working on inverse modelling since November 2024. He recently completed his Ph.D. research on the Asian Summer Monsoon Anticyclone at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, and is awaiting his viva voce. He holds an M.Sc. in Atmospheric Science from the Central University of Rajasthan, Ajmer, and a B.Sc. in Physics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. His primary research interests focus on large-scale circulations, atmospheric trace gas transport, and the dynamics of the Asian monsoon.
Musaid’s research journey began during his M.Sc. internship at the Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), where he investigated the influence of West Pacific typhoons on the historic 2018 Kerala floods using WRF model under the guidance of Dr. Manoj M. G. This work was later published in the esteemed journal Climate Dynamics. For his M.Sc. dissertation, under the mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Someshwar Das, he studied severe storm events using the WRF model, developing significant expertise in atmospheric modelling.

With this expertise, Musaid contributed to a private weather modification initiative, where he worked as a Research Associate. During his Ph.D. at SRM IST, he published two papers as the first author and contributed to 4 others in peer-reviewed journals. he trained under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and collaborated on multiple research objectives. As a visiting research student at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, he focused exclusively on one of his Ph.D. research objectives. After submitting his Ph.D. synopsis, he joined IITM Pune as a Project Scientist II.
